Cara Hough
LLB (Hons) CTAPS

At university Cara initially studied accounting and law. Although Cara was academically good at accounting, her passion lay with the law and so she converted to a straight law degree.

After her studies, Cara began her career as a paralegal within a personal injury team. Cara went on to gain valuable experience as part of her training within the family, private client, and general litigation teams.

Upon qualification Cara knew she wanted to specialise in contentious probate matters. Cara was always interested in the legal elements of private client work (being Wills, Estate Administration and Trusts). However, Cara thrives under pressure with the deadlines that litigation provides. Accordingly, Cara decided to combine the two and began creating a contentious probate caseload, supplementing her knowledge by completing the ACTAPS course.

Cara’s previous employment has seen her work in regional South West firms in Devon, Somerset, and North Somerset. Cara’s more recent role saw her grow contentious probate work and create a team resulting in her heading up the Disputed Wills, Estates and Trusts Team for a number of years.

Cara moved to IDR Law for many reasons. The most predominant were the work life balance (which Cara says runs throughout the firm) and the opportunity to work with so many great lawyers specialising in this area of law.

Cara heads up our Bristol Office, is a team leader for one of the Bristol Teams and, as Partner, is responsible for both business development and staff care and development across the firm.

Cara enjoys the opportunities and freedom that IDR Law offer for all employees. Everyone can choose their own career path and enjoy flexibility.

Outside of work Cara enjoys travelling, reading and (she says most importantly) spending time with her family. Cara did also say she has a secret passion for karaoke (although maybe we shouldn’t mention that!).
