Ellie finished her undergraduate degree from home for 4 months in the height of the first lockdown. Following this, she took the decision to carry on education and applied to the University of Law to complete her LPC and LLM to commence that September.
After initially applying to do the LPC full time, a chance meeting with a mutual connection facilitated a meeting between Ellie and Martin. An interview at our Harrogate office was arranged and from there plans changed. Ellie decided to transfer over to the part time LPC and this would be completed whilst working at IDR Law full time and almost two years later Ellie is on the final stretch of the LPC and is due to sit her last exams in June 2022 with hopes of becoming a Trainee Solicitor in September 2022.
At IDR Law Ellie works primarily within team Arran, working closely with our senior associate Kate Saunders and another of our associates Kirsty McNulty. From the very beginning of her time at IDR Law, Ellie has been grateful to have experienced very hands on training. Due to the nature of the training provided, there has been plenty of room for growth and progression. Ellie does everything from assisting Kate and Kirsty with their files, advising and corresponding with clients, preparation of correspondence and attendance at hearings and mediations.
Ellie has spoken about her experience of IDR Law: ‘It has been such a learning curve from the very start but due to the way in which we operate, and the opportunities to to learn and progress with the support of the senior solicitors really do enable you to take your training to the next level from day 1’.
Outside of work, for the last two years Ellie’s spare time has been somewhat taken over by the workload of the LPC however she enjoys spending time with socialising with friends.
