Harrogate wills specialist a double finalist in Yorkshire Legal Awards 2019

Yorkshire Legal Awards

Harrogate solicitors IDR Law were a finalist for Niche Law Firm of the Year at the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2019 while founder Martin Holdsworth also made the shortlist for Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year.

This year’s ceremony took place on October 10 at New Dock Hall in Leeds. The Yorkshire Legal Awards have been held since 2000 by business publisher Barker Brooks to recognise the best in legal talent across the region, with a panel of judges drawn from the local legal community.

IDR Law was founded in 2017 as a boutique firm focusing entirely on the growing demand for contentious probate services. Its website proclaims boldly and unambiguously that inheritance dispute resolution is “all we do” and it is the only law form in the UK to specialise solely in this niche area of law.

Since first opening its doors just two short years ago, IDR Law has:

  • Increased its team from 3 to 8 members
  • Exceeded £1.3 million in turnover
  • Opened its 250th case
  • First leading firm ranking from prestigious international directory the Legal 500

Meanwhile, Martin himself was recently declared a leading individual in his field across Yorkshire and the Humber by Legal 500 for the fifth year in a row. Martin brings a wealth of experience to the field, sitting on the national committee of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists and having dealt with will and probate dispute resolution for more than two decades.

After developing class leading teams at two law firms in Leeds previously, Martin founded IDR Law as a practice focused solely on this specialist area of law.

Martin said:

“To receive two finalist listings in a single year is a very gratifying and I see it as real recognition of the hard work and professionalism of the entire IDR team.”
