Hear from one of our clients

IDR Law is a specialist contentious probate firm. It’s all we do. One of our clients recently spoke to us about their experience with IDR Law in resolving their contentious probate issue.

Could you tell us a little about your case?

My father passed away last year. He’d made a will and named me and Kings Court Trust as executors. I had no previous dealings with wills and wasn’t sure where to begin so I called Kings Court Trust to ask for help and guidance. They were really helpful.

Why did you choose IDR Law?

A family member wasn’t happy with the will. When it became apparent that they were putting a caveat on probate to stop it going through, the Kings Court Trust mentioned IDR Law as a firm that might be able to help us.  We like to do our research and, out of all the firms we looked at to help us, we liked that IDR Law’s whole expertise is around contentious probate; that they don’t work in any other area of law. All the other companies we looked at also dealt with other areas of law and we like the fact that IDR Law are specialists – we didn’t know anything about the legal side, but we knew we needed expert help. We like that the IDR Law team are all experts in contentious probate so they can bounce ideas off each other.

How did IDR Law help you?

We had our initial conversation and once Richard [Thomas] and Kate [Saunders] were allocated the case they jumped on it immediately. I spoke to them at length over the phone, explained everything about our situation, sent every bit of documentation to do with it, and they said the family member contesting the will didn’t have a case.

Less than a year after my father died, after a lot of communication between IDR Law and the firm representing the family member, we finally received acknowledgement that the caveat had been removed and we were granted probate. It’s been a difficult year and I know we got off lightly as sometimes probate can take years to go through if someone contests it. Having IDR Law on board made the whole thing a lot easier to bear.

Would you recommend IDR Law to others?

Yes, we’d recommend them without a shadow of a doubt, no hesitation! Kate and Richard were absolutely phenomenal in their representation of our case.
