Helping you prevent inheritance disputes

At IDR Law we’re contentious probate specialists – we deal with disputes over inheritance and always aim to resolve cases in ways that keep the emotional and financial costs to our clients at a minimum.

IDR Law’s founder, Martin Holdsworth, has seen a lot of emotional upset in his career and urges people to put planning in place to prevent problems for their families upon their death.

Why do inheritance disputes arise?

Martin comments: “What you leave behind after you die matters, even if you are not around to see it. Having dealt with thousands of disputes on death over the years, it is not difficult to see patterns emerging. The vast majority of disputes arise because of a lack of communication and planning for death”.

Why FRisk was developed

Aiming to prevent such disputes and emotional trauma, Martin has developed FRisk, an app that tells you what would happen to your family if you died tomorrow. In less than 10 minutes, FRisk produces a report to say what planning you need to put in place for your death or loss of capacity and instantly links you with trusted providers who can help you.

Many people don’t realise that their money and assets don’t automatically go to those they want them to. Many people don’t realise their children won’t automatically be looked after by their family upon their death – with no will in place children are initially taken into the care of social services.

Sandro Forte, managing partner of Forte Financial LLP, is the co-owner of FRisk. In a recent interview with the Mirror, he explains why FRisk means so much to him: “In 1976, when I was just seven years old my dad, Leo, was diagnosed with lung cancer. I don’t in all honesty, remember his two-year battle against a dreadful disease – but I clearly remember what happened after he died in 1978, leaving my mum, Carol, a widow with four children… within two years of my father’s death my mum was declared bankrupt, unable to maintain the large house in which we lived or service the rising costs of looking after a growing family”

Sandro’s father had no will in place to ensure his business and other assets were passed to the people he loved the most.

FRisk can prevent this from happening to you. We sometimes need a traumatic event to think about the planning we need to put in place – a mortality check. FRisk has been designed to give you the mortality check and momentum to plan for the worst, without the worst actually happening. With second round funding and investment secured, Frisk is rolling out nationally – 10% of all its profits will pass directly to the charity Grief Encounter, who support and assist young people following the death of their parent(s).
