Richard has always had a keen interest in business, which led to obtaining a degree in business studies.

Having always been good with numbers, whilst studying, Richard quickly realised he could turn this into a career and lent into the finance side of the business.

Richard began his professional career in a business accounting role at British Airways, specialising in business cases for the A380 Airbus.

Following this, he worked at Reckitt Benckiser, overseeing business cases for products such as Lemsip.

During the pandemic, Richard moved careers to work with athleisure brand Gym King. Due to lockdowns and furlough, athleisure saw a massive rise during this period, and so Richard had a hands-on role in an investment process that saw the company acquired in a minority stake by JD Sports.

Richard found his way to IDR law after hearing about the private equity investment and wanting to join the journey.

He was also drawn to the flexible nature of working within IDR. Balancing raising a young family whilst still being patient and ambitious about work is something he felt he could achieve working within our team.

Outside of the world of work, Richard is an avid cyclist. He has previously organised a charity cycle in which he and his friends cycled from the marble arch in London all the way to Monaco in 10 days. He also loves spending time with his wife and daughter going on walks, particularly in their favourite spot in the Lake District.
