The Power of Inequality

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2023, Cara Hough (Partner at IDR Law) hosted a panel discussion with our very own Lindsay Gibson (Head of Marketing), Eleanor Stenson (Senior Associate, and Head of Training), and Hannah Coton-Smith (Trainee Solicitor) to talk about this year’s theme of ‘Embracing Equity’ and why creating equal opportunities in the workplace is not enough.

In the session, Lindsay recounts her journey to Head of Marketing and explains that the timing of the various stages along her career path meant that inequity, for her, was not necessarily an issue. Eleanor outlines IDR’s equitable approach from an employer’s perspective in recruiting new staff and training contract opportunities, and Hannah discusses the benefit of having equitable training opportunities and how this has enabled her to progress within the legal profession whilst balancing family life.

An equitable journey

IDR Law prides itself on offering flexible working opportunities to ensure that we recruit and retain the best people. In creating an equitable working environment, we can actively support all of our team to progress their own careers, however this may look for them at any stage in life.

While our discussion focusses on equity and the effect this can have on a person, at IDR Law we pride ourselves on equality as well – and so as we head into a substantial growth period over the next five years we are delighted to have formed a new Management Board comprising of Martin, Richard, Cara, Eleanor and Lindsay  – 3 vs 2, you do the math.
