Trainee Solicitor
Tim Ranken
LLB (Hons)

Tim’s interest in the law stemmed from a work experience placement with the legal department at my local council during the year of  his GCSEs.

The challenging and complex nature of legal work captured his attention and inspired him to study law at university.

Following a work experience placement with a boutique law firm in France during his A levels he went on to study law with French law at the University of Birmingham. Graduating with a first-class degree, following a tumultuous time at university due to disruptions through the pandemic, he set out to gather as much experience in the legal industry as possible. After a number of different placements, including one at IDR Law’s Head Office, he decided that the nature of the work matched his personal aspirations and what he wanted to get out of a legal career.

He now looks forward to starting his career in contentious probate at a firm in which he was instantly made to feel very welcome and believes he will be given the support and exposure necessary to take the next steps in his legal career.

Besides law he is a keen linguist and passionate footballer and football fan. He enjoys combining the two and watching matches abroad, where he has friends who are supporters of various different football clubs across Europe.
